Hanover Engineering was retained by Lehigh Valley Industrial Park, Inc. (LVIP) as their site engineer for the design and development of a 188-acre light industrial and office business park. The park is located in Bethlehem Township between William Penn Highway and Freemansburg Avenue, and adjacent to PA Route 33. The park contains 44 lots and approximately 9,400 linear feet of new roadway, requiring the design and construction of a storm sewer system and control facilities to accommodate the new development.
Stormwater management facilities for the park include four basins. The two larger basins were designed as retention basins (wet ponds) with a fountain aerator system and naturalized wetland areas. These basins, one 7.4 acres and one 2.6 acres in size, were designed and constructed in coordination with the Township’s Municipal Park located adjacent to the larger basin. A pathway installed around both of the ponds is linked to the sidewalk system within the industrial park, as well as the pathway system in the Municipal Park, providing recreational and educational opportunities for office employees and users of the park.
Hanover Engineering provided LVIP, Inc. with engineering services for all aspects of the project, including the design and stake out of the storm sewer collection system and stormwater management facilities, as well as the design of the constructed wetland areas. Hanover Engineering also was responsible for obtaining all the required local and state approvals and permits for the development, and provided full-time construction observation and project administration during all phases of the work.
