As the Township Engineer, Hanover Engineering assisted Lower Saucon Township in the development of a new community park located on 43 acres along Polk Valley Road, east of Route 412. The park is being developed in phases, with the construction of Phase I completed in 2006. Phase I included the construction of all required stormwater and erosion control facilities, three full-size soccer/multipurpose fields, two baseball fields, and supporting parking lots and access driveways.
Future phases of the park development are anticipated to include two pavilions, a tot lot, and a Township recreational building. A pedestrian bridge over the Polk Valley Run stream is currently being designed with associated pathways to connect the park to the Saucon Valley School District property.
In addition to the services provided for the design and construction of the park, Hanover Engineering also prepared construction cost estimates and assisted the Township in the bidding process, award of contracts, and project administration.
Specific engineering services provided for this ongoing project include the following:
- Park concept layouts and site surveys
- Design of site improvements and preparation of plans for the parking areas, walking trails, and athletic fields
- Grading and stormwater management facilities design, including pervious pavement and subsurface groundwater recharge to accommodate impervious areas on the project site
- Completion of E & S Control Plans and NPDES Permit requirements
